For over 35 years, the Montgomery County First Aid Unit has been a youth-led team of dedicated young adults providing reliable first aid and medical support to our community — from local events to emergency response.
Explorer Post 742 is more than a first aid unit — it's a training ground for the next generation of emergency responders, healthcare professionals, and community leaders. Our members, ages 14 to 20, train rigorously and provide real first aid coverage at events throughout Montgomery County.
Founded with the mission of keeping communities safe, we've grown into one of the most trusted youth-led medical service organizations in the area. Every member earns certification in First Aid, CPR, and AED use — and many go on to careers in medicine, firefighting, and public safety.
From large public events to neighborhood gatherings, our trained explorers provide professional-grade first aid and emergency medical support.
Professional first aid stations at parades, festivals, charity runs, and public events throughout Montgomery County. Our team sets up fully equipped medical tents staffed by certified responders.
Quick, calm, and competent on-scene care for minor injuries, allergic reactions, heat illness, and other medical situations at community events before EMS arrives.
We offer community workshops teaching basic first aid, CPR, and AED use — because everyone deserves to know how to help when seconds count.
Explorer Post 742 builds leadership, discipline, and life-saving skills in young people. Members gain real-world experience, certifications, and a lifelong sense of purpose.
We work alongside local fire departments, emergency services, schools, and organizations to ensure every event in Montgomery County has reliable medical coverage.
Our explorers give back through volunteer hours at health fairs, blood drives, and outreach programs — building a culture of compassion in our community.
We're not an outside organization rolling in for events — we're your neighbors. Our explorers live, go to school, and play right here in Montgomery County. When they serve at a community event, they're looking out for people they know.
We've provided medical coverage at the Silver Spring Juneteenth Festival, the Montgomery County Fair, the Rockville Night Market, and dozens of smaller neighborhood gatherings every year. Our presence is a comfort to event organizers and a lifeline to anyone who needs it.
If you're between 14 and 20 years old and want to learn life-saving skills, build leadership abilities, and serve your community in a meaningful way — Explorer Post 742 is waiting for you. No medical experience needed. Just curiosity, commitment, and a desire to help.
